Tamil Nadu rules for Chennai cabs

Shops and establishments: under the notification renewed from 5 June 2025 for three years, women do not work past 8 pm in normal cases. With written consent they can work 8 pm to 6 am, if the employer protects their dignity and safety.
The same notification says the employer must arrange transport for women on shifts and put up a notice at the main entrance saying transport is available.
Factories: Rule 84B of the Tamil Nadu Factories Rules asks for separate safe transport from the factory to the nearest point of each woman's home, and women security at entry and exit. Confirm the current conditions with your client.
Your car needs commercial registration, a valid permit and an AIS-140 GPS device with a panic button.

Local tips for car owners in Chennai

OMR has toll plazas on the main road and on some link roads. Ask whether tolls are paid by the client or come out of your side.
Sriperumbudur and Oragadam are a long drive from most of the city. Plants run three shifts, so trips can start very early or end very late.
Chennai floods during heavy rain. Talk to your client in advance about what happens to duty on days when roads are shut.
