Gujarat rules for Ahmedabad cabs

Shops and establishments: the 2026 amendment to the Gujarat Shops and Establishments Act, 2019 (in effect from 16 December 2025) allows women to work from 9 pm to 6 am with their consent. Employers must look after their safety and give transport between the workplace and home.
Draft rules published in 2026 would add GPS-tracked pickup and drop, police verification of night drivers, and at least three women on the night shift. These were still a draft when last checked, so confirm the current conditions with your client.
Factories: the Factories (Gujarat Amendment) Act, 2025 lets factories employ women at night only with written consent and state approval. The conditions include transport from home with security guards, plus CCTV and GPS in each vehicle.
Your car must be commercially registered, with a permit for the area you work in and an AIS-140 GPS device with a panic button.

Local tips for car owners in Ahmedabad

GIFT City work means the Ahmedabad to Gandhinagar road twice a day. Agree on how the km are counted before you sign.
