- The Maharashtra Shops and Establishments Act, 2017 and Rule 13 of the 2018 Rules let women work between 9:30 pm and 7 am, with their consent and with safe, separate transport to their doorstep.
- Workers need police verification. Where ten or more women work at night, there must be women security guards, and helpline numbers have to be on display.
- A 2025 amendment reportedly adds door-to-door transport, at least two women on duty and CCTV recording. Confirm the current conditions with your client.
- Maharashtra has also tightened rules for app-based taxis, including driver badge requirements. Check whether your client or permit needs a badge.
